JAMIE Foxx has revealed he stalked schizophrenic musician Nathaniel Ayers in preparation for his role in The Soloist. "I snuck downtown and watched him from a distance," Foxx says. "He didn't even know I was there. I watched him for a couple of hours and I filmed him with a camera while he was talking to other people." The movie is based on the true story of Ayers (played by Foxx), a gifted cellist who had a mental breakdown in his third year of studies at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York.
