While Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday announced the National Solar Mission, the Delhi government is eyeing World Bank help to produce solar energy. To produce grid-based solar energy, the Delhi government is at present working on a proposal for the Climate Investment Fund (CIF) — a consortium of groups like the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. Bill allows wind, solar power on Nebraska school land
Lavon Heidemann of Elm Creek introduced a bill (LB916) on Tuesday that would allow school trust land to be leased for wind or solar power development. The Nebraska Board of Educational Lands and Funds would be responsible for authorizing any leases for power projects on the 1.3 million acres of land it manages for the benefit of the state's schools. The 1.3 million acres is what's left of a huge land contribution from the federal government in 1867. Income from renting out the land for agricultural and mineral uses helps pay for school funding in Nebraska. The board has already had some preliminary discussions with wind power developers.
