Region may get freezing rain or sleet
Most school systems in the region, including Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, will remain closed for a second day. After consulting with school-transportation officials yesterday afternoon, Superintendent Don Martin decided to go ahead and cancel school, Theo Helm, a system spokesman, said. "The neighborhood roads and side streets are still rough," Helm said. "It's safer for the buses not to go over them." The possibility of freezing rain also contributed to the decision, he said. School's out (mostly), and so are the sleds
Most schools across the area are closed, including the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools. Day classes at Forsyth Technical Community College have also been cancelled. Before the snow vanished entirely, Rachel Hoeing and her children, Jake Hoeing, 6, and Anna Hoeing, 4, took to a hill on Elizabeth Avenue to enjoy a couple of hours of sled riding. Snow returns to Triad
Theo Helm, a spokesman for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, said that a determination about whether school will be canceled or delayed on Monday won't be made until Sunday afternoon or night. "Our goal is to make the call as early as possible so parents can make plans," he said.
