The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation began gearing up Thursday for a forecast weekend snowstorm expected to drop about 12 inches on the Philadelphia area. More than 400 trucks will be mobilized in the five-county region. PennDOT is spraying heavily traveled highways in the region Thursday with a salt brine solution, which will help keep snow from bonding instantly to the cold pavement at the onset of the storm. Another near-miss for New England as snow stays south

Great news for the snow-haters out there, but bad news for skiers and Meteorologists (who are a little strange, and enjoy monster snowstorms). Yet another Nor'Easter will be missing us, keeping the snow away from New England. This large storm system is starting to move up the east coast, with plenty of rain and snow to go around. The clouds associated with this storm are trying to move in, but there's a lot of dry air still funneling into our neck of the woods. That dry air 'eats up' the moisture, evaporating the water vapor in the clouds. So the bottom line is that the clouds will be very slow to thicken up around here.
