To create a split-screen or picture-in-picture effect without cutting the main video in Movavi Video Editor, you can utilize the extra track provided by this software. This allows for the addition of various visual elements such as logos, watermarks, chroma key effects, and short clips on top of the primary footage.

Add a background video or foreground video/photo to the project timeline.

Then, select a clip intended for overlay placement and drag it onto the primary video track.

The selected clip will become connected to the main video, allowing for seamless synchronization between the two tracks when editing. When manipulating content on the main video track, any changes will also affect the overlay clip in real-time.
