Community kindness helps law enforcers cope with tragic loss in their ranks

I also feel a deep sense of responsibility on behalf of my colleagues to say "thank you" for the outpouring of kindness and support so many of you have shown to the men and women in your community who wear a badge. Your support is not only deeply meaningful and appreciated, it is critically important to maintaining the bond between the police and the people we serve. During the past month, I've been frequently asked how the recent series of police tragedies has impacted members of law enforcement. Today's THV blogger writes about act of kindness
It involves a random act of kindness that Sibert witnessed first-hand. She was shopping for her sister's kids. When Sibert saw the prices on the toys selected at Walmart, she said under her breath, "That's just too much money." A stranger, who Sibert describes as looking like Clint Eastwood, tapped her on the shoulder and gave her a Christmas card. Inside was $100 cash, allowing Brandi to buy the toys she wanted and produce a bountiful feast on the Sibert table. The card, the cash and the act of kindness reduced Brandi to tears in the middle of Walmart. She never could find the man to thank him. But she blogged. She became a community journalist, and our li...
