Birmingham school superintendent candidate Frederick Hill says he can turn school district around (10)
interview this morning with Frederick Hill, assistant superintendent of Tupelo Public Schools, who said he has the capability to turn the system around. Hill said that when he served as a principal in Whiteville, N.C., he helped turn around a school that was failing under federal standards in two years, in part by using laptop computers and individual education plans for each student. In Tupelo, he is working closely with the superintendent to give each student in grades 6-12 an Apple laptop computer, which eventually will replace textbooks, he said.
