Acton-Boxborough schools harness solar energy
Head said that through this agreement, solar energy costs 8 cents per kilowatt-hour, as opposed to 19 cents for regular electricity. While regular energy prices are expected to rise, the solar energy rate will remain stable throughout the length of the contract. Projections yield an average savings of $25,000 per year over a 25-year period factoring in the estimated energy cost hikes, Head said.
