UConn, Texas Suddenly Heading Opposite Ways
STORRS, Conn. -- It may be too early to talk about teams passing each other on the escalator. Then again, when the students at a school with two national championship banners hanging in the rafters storm the court after a win, all bets are off. Thus, it's fair to observe that Connecticut is suddenly on the ride going up -- and Texas is just as sudden on a trip down. There actually isn't that much difference between the two teams. Connecticut's 88-74 win Saturday, a near-total domination after halftime that was followed up by the rush onto the Gampel Pavilion floor, only made it seem like there was a big difference -- in favor of the unranked team, not the one ranked No. 1.
Huskies Prepare for Non-Conference Battle
The Huskies put a halt to a three-game losing streak with a win at home against St. John's last night. It was without Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun and with the big three of Walker, Dyson, and Robinson leading the way. The Huskies improved to 12-6 overall with a 3-3 record in the Big East. Now the No. 1 Texas is coming to Storrs, playing its first game since their first loss of the season. The Longhorns, led by star forward Damion James and center Dexter Pittman, are going to be hungry for a win. However, UConn desperately needs a win against a tough non-conference opponent. All of UConn's losses have been close this year. They have fought hard in every game,...

Tristan Thompson | 6-9 | PF | Findlay Prep (NV) | 2010 Thompson had to make the same trek as Jospeh, but it was probably a little worse for him based on the number of times that he was hammered in the paint on Saturday. He showed off great body control, going coast to coast a number of times and making solid decisions with the rock en route to a 17 and 10 showing. Thompson’s killer footwork and ability to finish with either hand at the rim made him a nightmare to guard for the smaller Benedictine players to defe...
