Jane Fonda to make fitness comeback at 72 (14)
Veteran actress Jane Fonda is set to make a return to fitness instruction - she's filming a workout DVD aimed at older women. The "Barbarella" star recorded and released a series of hit exercise videos throughout the 1980s, and now at the age of 72 she is planning to make a fitness comeback. And she's determined to encourage elderly people sitting at home to get moving again, insisting, "We will film them in mid-March. Mine will target an audience that has been left out, my age group and the (baby) boomers. I want to get to people who have stopped working out or never did." And she's hoping the project will be as successful as her first tapes, which were made with...
Syracuse, Georgetown Looking for Big East Road Wins Tops Weekend Preview (13)
The last time the Orange went to Morgantown, the 'Cuse received one of its worst road beatings since a disastrous 39 point beat-down to DePaul in 2006. That West Virginian beat-down came at a time when Andy Rautins had a bum knee, Wes Johnson was still an Iowa State Cyclone, and the Mountaineers still didn't really have a point guard. Some things don't change. That point guard play could and likely will be the deciding factor between the Mountaineers continuing to slide through the rankings and WVU legitimizing itself after disappointing losses on the road. The two man rotation coach Bob Huggins has used throughout this season just hasn't worked. Truck Bryant and...
Patience paying off (12)
Player-coach Sylvain Cloutier is excited at the way his Hull Stingrays side is shaping up as they continue preparations for the Elite League play-offs. Stingrays, brilliantly backstopped by new netminder Martins Raitums, claimed only their second four-point weekend of the season as they beat Belfast Giants 3-2 at Hull Arena on Saturday before a 5-2 victory over defending champions Sheffield Steelers 24 hours later.Cloutier said: "It was a big weekend for us, with two big wins. Belfast are one of the top teams in the league but we played for 60 minutes and followed the game plan and kept going. Marty made some big saves for us to give us a chance to win. "At 2-2...

New City Councilwoman Margaret Chin Answers Chinatown's Questions in Q&A With DNAinfo (12)
The buses used to line up in front of the Mahayana Buddhist Temple near the Manhattan Bridge. But it was too dangerous there, with cars rushing by and crashing into the parked bus and the people lining up for the bus. Now they've moved the loading zones onto other streets. But it's still dangerous for riders and the buses back up traffic. Chin: They need a central place to pick up and drop off passengers. With Chinatown streets being so congested and crowded, we've got to have a place, one or several places. Right now it's not working. The bus companies are getting chased everywhere they go. Police traffic agents have to be clear on where they can ticket bus...
Chop Bar is a treat in Jack London Square (12)
Pork with polenta might mean a shank with dried fruit and mint some nights, but we hopped on the pork-go-round for Delany's "Milan" cutlet ($15), pounded flat, breaded with fine crumbs and panfried to a crunch. Fried sage leaves and olive oil round the toasty flavors, and creamy polenta makes an unctuous backdrop. Blue-nose bass ($19), an easy fish to overcook, is just right, and well served by a bright fennel-citrus slaw. The potato au gratin side ($6) is pleasantly gooey with Fiscalini cheddar, though it needed more browning. We liked the salads, too, opting twice for the romaine ($8). One version, a chopped Caesar, adds hints of warm spice to a classic dressing. The second...
How Obama Can Win Back Independents (11)
They search for leaders who exhibit a sense of good will. They tend to fret about deficits and debt, but not in a reflexively antigovernmental way. They are not against social programs, but want them administered with old-school thrift. They are not "centrists" in the sense that they exist in some mathematical middle ground between "left" and "right." Nor are they necessarily angry "populists," eternally resenting and distrusting anyone with any power. They are outsiders who wish Washington were a better place. Obama did a pretty good job of appealing to these folks in 2008. In many ways, he was the kind of politician they would distrust: a metropolitan liberal Democrat. Bu...
