Of course, this transaction is setting up the arrival of either Jon Garland or John Smoltz in Queens. And I'm telling everyone right now, it had better be Garland. Garland went 11-13 with the Dodgers and D-Backs last year, pitching 204 innings. As a matter of fact, in the last eight seasons, his lowest innings total was 191.2 (2003). Since then, he's gone over 200 innings every year. If I can recall, I was pushing for the Mets to sign him last year. Listen, he's not the greatest, but he eats innings. Also, he's NOT John Smoltz. The fact that the Mets are even considering Smoltz proves once again they are completely out of touch with their fan base, which I'm sure is dwindlin...
